My passion as an artist is to capture human-altered landscapes with a sense of the uncanny—a feeling of something being strangely familiar. My images evoke a sense of beauty and a strangeness that reflect a splendour we seldom notice.
In my ongoing pursuit of “Newer Topographics” I create a canvas that emphasizes the strong sense of isolation humankind feels when natural landscapes are juxtaposed with solitary manmade constructs.
As an artist, my joy lies in the fact that it may take a moment or two for my images to unveil themselves to you. When they do, I hope you see the same beauty and feel the same sense of wonder that I experience.
I was honoured to be chosen as a finalist for the 2021 Aesthetica Art Prize - a critically acclaimed global art prize. The Finalists’ exhibition was held at the York Art Gallery in York, England. This video highlights the short-listed artists and their art.
I was honoured to be chosen as a finalist in the renowned Salt Spring National Art Prize in 2017. This video depicts some of the artwork included in the Finalists’ exhibition. At the end of this video my photo “Lifesavers,” is featured with the guests attending the Awards Night Gala at Mahon Hall.
I donated my image “Prii” to the 2019 SNAP for ACT fundraising live auction to benefit the Aids Committee of Toronto. I’m happy to say that Prii sold for over the asking price.
